Climate Literacy in Education

The Center supports the publication of an open access journal for teachers called Climate Literacy in Education (CLE). CLE is a peer-reviewed pocket journal for sharing ideas, discussions, and curricular materials generated by the community of educators who are dedicated to nourishing young people’s climate literacy.

Climate Literacy Teacher Leader Fellowship

In September 2022 we launched the first edition of the 9-month Climate Literacy Teacher Leader Fellowship Program. Meeting with Center instructors every 3 weeks, the initial cohort of 5 teacher fellows is developing climate literacy curricula for their subject areas and will implement these materials in their classrooms in spring 2023. The 2022-23 fellowship is supported from the generous gift of Dr. Pete Palmer.

Climate Lit: an educational website

The Center provides institutional support and an academic home for Climate Lit: a comprehensive hub of resources to help K-12 educators nurture young people’s climate literacy with children’s literature and media.

Programs and Events

We offer professional development programs designed to train, support, and sustain educators to integrate climate literacy content in their pedagogical practice. We organize panels, guest talks, and other events that help advance a conversation between authors, activists, educators, and the public to share ideas, develop our capacity to act together, and help our students increase their climate literacy. We partner with schools, organizations, and communities to design and implement climate literacy projects tailored to the needs of specific audiences.
