Offered in collaboration from and with support by the UMN Institute for Global Studies, the Center's Schools for the Planet Summer Institute brings together K-16 educators across all content areas to deepen their understanding and practice of climate literacy education. Participants explore climate literacy as a board, socioscientific competence that focuses primarily on values, attitudes, and ways of understanding with living aligned with our planetary home. In addition to earning continuing education credits (CEUs), participants will come away with ready-to-teach materials for their specific classroom.
This year's Institute will be held in-person, June 22-24 2026, 9:00am - 1:30pm central on the UMN-TC St. Paul Campus. The Institute is free for all. 13.5 CEUs will be awarded at the conclusion of the Institute. In order to ensure that facilitators have time to fully prepare, registration will close on June 1, 2025 at 11:59pm. All registrants will then receive an email asking to confirm their participation. Confirmations will be due by June 8.
