I am a retired physician. I was an English major at St. Olaf College and studied Shakespeare at Cambridge/Oxford almost 50 years ago...eh gad! I have remained a student of comparative literature and seek to understand things beyond my ken. I wrote a middle-grade book called "Gilly & the Snowcats" in 2016 for my niece. I am a Nordic skier and on the board of the Birchleggings Club of the American Birkebeiner. We promote the ethic of responsible earth stewardship through "Birkie Green" and other initiatives to advocate for a healthy environment. Snow and the four seasons is/are essential to our success & survival! Our group purchased a Taiga electric snowmobile for the Birkie race this year. I first learned of the Center for Climate Literacy when I read an article about endowed chair Marek Oziewicz PhD in the Minnesota Alumni magazine last year. I am honored to now be working with Dr. Oziewicz, Barb Thees and Nick Kleese on Community Development ideas to enhance climate awareness with a better understanding of the consequences of our "Anthropocene" geologic era, and hopefully alter our current environmental trajectory.
