In summer 2024, we were awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities K12 Summer Institute grant to support a three week workshop called Teaching Climate Justice with Young People's Literatures and Media.
In April 2025, this award was canceled by DOGE. Without funding, we offered two short, alternative programs: one for both the teachers who were accepted into the original Institute and one for all who applied. We also published a special issue of Climate Literacy in Education that offered teacher perspectives on the importance of climate justice education.
We hope to offer the Institute in its full form sometime in the future, much in the same vein as the original proposal:
