RENA BARBARA KALLA is Associate Professor, head of Dutch Studies, and the co-founder of the Centre for Research on Children’s and Young Adult Literature at the Faculty of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, University of Wroclaw, Poland. She has published on Dutch and Flemish literature, including "Huisbeelden in de moderne Nederlandstalige poëzie" (The Images of the House in Modern Dutch Poetry, 2012), on play and intergenerational relationships "Rulers of Literary Playgrounds: Politics of Intergenerational Play in Children’s Literature" and "Children’s Literature and Intergenerational Relationships: Encounters of the Playful Kind" (Routlegde, Palgrave, 2021, both with Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak). She is Chief Editor of the series Lage "Landen Studies" (16 volumes, Academia Press Ghent, Belgium). In 2022 elected as a honorary member of Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal- en Letterkunde (Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature), Belgium/Flanders where she serves as chair of the jury Children's and Young People's Literature Prize. Literary translator accredited by "Flanders Literature".
