Climate Literacy Educational Action Nexus (CLEAN)

Sponsored by the Center for Climate Literacy, the CLEAN award is a one-year award that recognizes and supports climate literacy nexuses: groups or collectives of educators, broadly defined, who use the power of story to advance climate literacy education in their local contexts. These groups may consist of educators, students, family, community members, and any other individuals involved in preK-12 education who advance climate literacy work with school-age audiences in formal or informal settings. 

Colectiva de Educación Bilingüe Minneapolis / Minneapolis Bilingual Education Collective, or “Colectiva” for short, is a non-profit organization to support families and staff of Spanish dual language programs in Minneapolis Public Schools.  They work in partnership with each schools’ PTO / PTA and school staff to unite us as a larger community of bilingual learners.

Colectiva Bilingue’s Bilingual Climate Action initiative is building holistic environmental education, engagement, and action across the three Spanish Dual Language Elementary Schools in Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS). Learning in the classroom, on the playground, and after school, our majority Latinx and free-and-reduced school lunch communities are uniting around environmental issues to lead change.
